The Journal of NeuroPhilosophy (JNφphi) is committed to providing immediate, free, and unrestricted online access to all of its published articles. In accordance with its open access policy, all peer-reviewed publications are freely available to readers worldwide without subscription or access fees.

JNφphi supports the principle that scholarly research should be openly accessible to the scientific community and the public. Open access enables readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and otherwise use published research for lawful purposes, subject to appropriate attribution and respect for the integrity of the original work.

Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain the copyright to their published work. JNφphi does not require authors to transfer copyright to the journal. Following acceptance and publication, JNφphi prepares the final published version of the article according to the journal's editorial and production standards.

All published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits others to share, copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the published work, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the original publication is properly cited, and any changes are clearly indicated.

Author Self-Archiving and Redistribution

Authors are permitted and encouraged to share and deposit the final published version of their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, academic platforms, personal or professional websites, and other appropriate digital archives.

Authors may also share the published article through social media and professional networks to increase the visibility, accessibility, readership, and scholarly impact of their work, provided that the original publication is fully and accurately cited.

The final published version may be redistributed without seeking additional permission from the journal, provided that the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license are respected.

Meaning of Open Access

JNφphi follows the widely recognized principle that open access to peer-reviewed research literature means the free availability of scholarly work on the public internet, allowing users to access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and otherwise reuse the full text for lawful purposes without financial, legal, or technical barriers beyond those inherent to internet access.

Within this framework, copyright remains important primarily to ensure that authors retain control over the integrity of their work and receive appropriate recognition and attribution.

The CC BY 4.0 license is designed to maximize the dissemination and reuse of scholarly research while allowing authors to retain copyright. Under this license, users may:

  • share and redistribute the work in any medium or format;

  • use the work for commercial or non-commercial purposes;

provided that they:

  • give appropriate credit to the author(s);

  • provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license;

  • indicate whether changes were made; and

Through its open access and CC BY licensing policy, JNφphi aims to promote the widest possible dissemination, accessibility, reuse, and scholarly impact of research in neuroscience, philosophy, cognitive science, and related interdisciplinary fields.
