Piketty’s Summarized Ideas on Social Inequality in the View of Cosmological Neuroscience by Nandor Ludvig
As neurophilosophy, including cosmological neuroscience, considers its primary mission to address the most important problems of human existence from the vintage point of brain research, the societal/political components of this human existence must also be subjects of neurophilosophy. Thus, our journal now presents the cosmological neuroscientist Nandor Ludvig’s new paper that offers a neurophilosophical look on the problem of social inequality.
The title of the paper is “Piketty’s Summarized Ideas on Social Inequality in the View of Cosmological Neuroscience”. Accordingly, the paper examines the 2024 book “Nature, Culture, and Inequality” by one of the greatest minds of our time, the French economist and sociologist Thomas Piketty. While Ludvig expresses his admiration to Piketty’s sincere and crystal-clear analyses of the shameful phenomenon of social inequality across the globe, as a cosmological neuroscientist he didn’t hide either his different opinion on the origin and future of this social problem.
Namely, the paper states that “… it is the evil side of the evolutionary force of socialization on the human brain’s emotionally and cognitively assisted Motivational system that is responsible for abnormal social inequality across the globe, throughout history.” As discussed in the text, this “evil side” works through the brain’s inner world of physical and mental pleasures pursued by social motivational drives – including hunger for power, obsession with wealth, enjoying exploitation – with the animalistic freedom of harming others if they compete. Since it is the ideologized and enforced social inequality that can provide the widest range of undisturbed pleasures to the body and brain of the member of the ruling class, his or her Motivational system blocks the controlling neural inputs from the Soul’s Conscience and, instead, generates the animalistic freedom of harming everybody who questions this inequality.
But Ludvig’s paper also emphasizes that while these evil effects on the human brain’s Motivational system have had – and still have – their success in terms of maintaining social injustice across space and time, these evil effects have always been countered by the divine side of the cosmic program – related or not to a humanely incomprehensible God -- that brought life to Earth and initiated the evolution towards the Human Soul. The paper concludes with the author’s faith that abnormal social inequality will disappear from the map of human existence – and be kept away by the inevitable Government of Earth so that a morally and intellectually bettered humankind can move to its next evolutionary phase.
